Your Questions About Can You Paint A Hot Tub

John asks…

How do I get rid of a stain-ring on the vinyl lining of my hot tub. I’ve tried bleach and acid toilet cleaner

Maybe I can just paint over it using a Vinyl Paint spray, such as you would use to repaint a car’s dashboard (it’s much the same, like a leather texture). The concern is that the paint would peel or bubble, being under (hot) water. Someone out there must’ve done this before. Rejuvenating this thing would be great. Thanks, Mike.

spafanatic answers:

Try Bam or oxy clean but don’t use thing1and thing2 they only make worse.

Donald asks…

Would You Spend Money on This? If you love to party and u r 15 – 18 click here?

i would really like to know what you think before i go and spend money on my idea. i throw sik partys. because i dont want them to be unoriginal, i want them to be crazy fun, i spend a shiitload of money. fireworks, bonfire pit, hot tub rental, glowstick paint, exotic snacks, giveaways, each time its different. nevermind the booze and cocktails. people say im extremely nice, but really im just throwing it for me ;)

so im thinking about charging all my friends and their friends $12-40 dollars for membership a year. the cost depends because the passes are in the form of charms:

guys: black or white knife (you can attach to belt, or for any of my friends who wear those tag necklaces) $20, or Brass Knuckles (that you can use ;) ) $40, just a simple tag with my logo on it $15, or $20 a mini vodka bottle (some of them smoke so they need a place store store their kush), and so on.

girls: a perfume bottle charm $30, silver heart charm $20, vintage key $20, small firey red vintage tag $12 (unisex), and so on.

all the charms will have my logo on them. you need your charm or token or whatever to get into my parties. you can go to 1 party without. if you have a charm you can bring your friends (that i dont know). Then if they like my parties they can buy their passes too.

i need to know if this is a good idea. should i spend money on these charms? do you think this is a good idea? i will make alot of money that i can budget on my parties. but this is only if people buy. im thinking to just buy 20 different charms at first and see if it works out.

anyways, What is your opinion? would you buy if one of your friends asked you ? would you buy if an acquaintance asked you? would you buy if someone you just know, or know of asked you?

spafanatic answers:

Sure but if people start not going its probably because they have no money so dont be bumbed out if people dont end up going

Carol asks…

WHo wants EASY, ten points (awesome question, read details)?

What are some games I can play for my sleepover party. You know stuff to do. What is their to avoid? What time should we go to bed? Give me interesting stuff! I already have
Movie
Paint like pottery (picture frame or pot)
Do facials
Water balloon fight
Egg toss
Make bracelets
Paint nails
Pickle (known as sardine)
Hot potato
Truth or dare
Ghost in the graveyard
Make ice cream sundaes
Water Games
Would you rather
Light as a feather, Stiff as a board
Freeze dance
musical chairs

What are some water games or stuff we can do? I have sprinklers, no pools or hot tubs. We have a hose. (of course!) I’m gonna buy water balloons. I wana too like super cool stuff. Not the usual sleepover stuff. Oh we are 11, girls, their are 8 guests (including me), and we are NOT inviting boys! Also what are good movies? You know, pg or g. What did you do at sleepovers. PLEASE DONT GIVE CHEAP ANSWERS! Or else no 10 pts! Yeah also what should I put in the gift bags?

spafanatic answers:

Yay, sleepovers! Those are always fun. Most of the things you have planned sound great, but I would like to make some recoomendations. I wouldn’t suggest having too many structured games, such as painting pottery, egg toss, and hot potato. I think you should do facials, movies, truth or dare is always fun, sardines is still one of my favorite games (i’m 19!) would you rather, light as a feather, painting nails, and making bracelets. Instead of freeze dance and muical chairs, you should make two groups and have each come up with a dance routine and have a dance off. I used to do this and it was always a great hit. You can even make costumes and do eachothers makeup for the performance. Antother thing my friends and i walways do is build forts in the living rooms. Just take chairs, couches, whatever, and drape blankets over them to make a tent. You can tell ghost stories in there or whatever. You should definitely do a water fight! I had one just the other day and it was awesome. If it’s cold outside you can fill the balloons with warm water, like I did. You could have a flashlight waterfight in the dark. So basically I would avoid things that could come off as young (egg toss, hot potato, musical chairs) and do fun things like truth or dare, have a dance off, sardines, facials, make-overs, and waterfight. Oh, and of course movies! Some good pg movies are: the sisterhood of the traveling pants, nacho libre, napolean dynamite, shrek, freaky friday, and the best movie ever would have to be The Princess Bride. It is a really funny movie, so you should definitely check it out. Stay up as late as you want to, be silly, and have fun! Sleepovers are the best! I hope this helped and i hope your party is a hit!

Susan asks…

Favourite thing about your honeymoon?

I’m getting married in a week but I’m way more excited about the honeymoon!
We’re been together for almost 4 years but haven’t had sex.. so there will obviously be a lot of that.

But besides sex, what did you love about your honeymoon?!

I’m excited for sleep ins, good food, complete relaxation, pools and beaches, the indoor fire and spa’s at two of the places we’re staying.. and just spending time being married.

What was your honeymoon experience like?

spafanatic answers:

We drove to an our of town destination for our honeymoon, we left at about 10am and got there for 1pm ish , we checked into our hotel room and had all intentions on deciding where to begin our honeymoon, I think we both plopped on the bed at the same time, embraced for a moment and BOOM, lights out for both of us- we woke up at seriously 7pm, hungry! Made it to the lobby pub for a drink and some grub and went back upstairs and I had the best bath in the BIGGEST tub ive ever seen in my life, we tried to pour the champagne and make it special but we were both just so exhausted from the wedding itself lol

the next morning though ;) we had some fun and were tourists and made up for the evening before for sure, but that first night was actually one of my favorite parts of my honeymoon, it felt so good to know neither of us had to force ourselves to get up and go and we both had a lot of fun just relaxing and catching up on sleep after the chaos of the wedding

Linda asks…

what to do in cairo????? help?

things to do in cairo for girls??

like is there good spas‘? or theme parks? etc…

and what about indoor swimming pools?

thanks

spafanatic answers:

There is City Starz mall in Nasr City.. Its HUGE and has like over 250 stores.. It will take you days to go through all of it!

There is a theme park called Dream Park that is nice.. But its nothing compared to a theme park in America for example.. It only has one rollercoaster and a few other amusing rides.. But it is fun!

As for spas, I’m not sure.. But there are beauty places everywhere that you can get your nails/hair/waxing done.. Very nicely too!

Indoor pools.. You can try out any sporting club they will have lots of things to do.. There is a small fee but it is fun! I would recommend the club in Heliopolis.. They have a gym, track, pool etc and I had a lot of fun going with my friends there. :)

Mandy asks…

Looking for a place to go on honeymoon in August 2010?

Not fussy at all… but here are the requirements for around a £3,000 budget.

a) Preferably all inclusive
b) Indoor Pool & Outdoor Pool (We like the indoor pools with water jets!)
c) Somewhere reasonably hot, but not boiling!
d) Must have a spa centre
e) Somewhere on the beach preferably

The last holiday we went on, we stayed in Rhodes at the Rodos Palladium which was fantastic! It had all of the above and more.

I would prefer to travel with Thomson as they have been excellent time and time again. I have been looking at the Riu Yucatan in Mexico which ticks all the right boxes, and also the Grand President in Sorrento, but it’s a bit expensive and is only half board.

Thank you for your advice and help!

spafanatic answers:

Mexico weather could be a little unsettled, its likely to be humid and there is the risk of a hurricane between June and October.

What about the Greek Islands, you clearly enjoyed Rhodes, what about Elounda in Crete, or one of the quieter islands such as Naxos, Parga. Santorini has some beautiful accommodation also.

Thailand, again beautiful and very inexpensive whilst there, though can be a little humid and subject to some rainfall, though not to the same extent as the Caribbean.

Jenny asks…

What is this sickness?

Hey, alright, i was at work today(i work at an indoor pool) and i felt really faint and nauseous, about 2 minutes later my vision went all black and i couldn’t see for about 20seconds. i made it to a chair where i could rest. once i was able to walk again, i went and got some food and it seemed to help a bit. My vision also goes all the way black when ever i get out of the spa as well, could these things be related?

spafanatic answers:

Do you have headaches too? Im thinking migraine.

Or

is it hot where you work (indoor pools tend to be) and heat can make you feel like that.

Or

could be low blood sugar levels.

Or

could be low blood pressure

the possibilities are endless, see a doctor they’ll do tests and you’ll know for sure.

Your Questions About Best Hot Tub Deals

Ken asks…

So which truly is the BEST in COLORADO?

I am a soldier currently deployed to Afghanistan and I will be coming home for a little R&R in February shortly before Valentines Day. I am planning a very romantic trip for my girlfriend of 3 1/2 years and myself, and I have this image in my head of what I want, but no clue if even such a place exists. So, I am wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on the best place to book a vacation in Colorado based off my criteria. I want to get a cabin in the woods by a lake type deal, but still quite close to the slopes for some skiing. I want a private hot tub, fireplace, etc…basically the works! This is quite possibly going to be the most memorable vacation of our lives because, as I said, we’ve been dating for 3 1/2 years…and the time has come for that question, get me? I want the setting, the mood, everything to be perfect. Any suggestions??

spafanatic answers:

Take a look at the article I’ve written with ideas for romantic snow vacations, 2 are in Colorado- 1 Steamboat Springs and 1 in Twin Lakes just west of Aspen. Aspen is beautiful, but its super upscale, snobby, expensive.. If you want super ritzy that would be it, but I prefer Leadville and you can ski at Ski Cooper there too. Steamboat Springs is a combination of Aspen and Leadville- really beautiful area and lots of ritzy and medium priced resorts. Take a look at these and you’ll get more details too, I also have one of the ski resorts with info on lodging, etc so that might help as well:

George asks…

Is it ok to go skinny dipping with a co worker?

I was invited over to my co worker Jackies house and she has a big hot tub and it was basically her, co workers Laura and Tiffany. We actually are all just good friends and colleagues but this time the happy hour took a weird turn. Laura, Jackie, and Tiffany all wanted to go into the hot tub and they had their suits with them and I didn’t. So, I respectfully declined but Jackie said just go nude and it wasnt a big deal. So after twisting my arm by all the ladies (yes we were drinking) I took off all my clothes and the second I got nude, I felt really weird because there I stood there about an inch and I felt as if it was six eyes just ogling at me before I got in the hot tub trying their best not to laugh at it. But while we were in the tub, I felt weird the entire time being naked. No sexual contact took place but as a guy, I did get an erection and it wouldnt come down. When we all got out, there I was with a 3.5 inch erection and then giggles came. Did I make a mistake?

spafanatic answers:

It is not a mistake. First, they gave u the go-signal. Second, you are just being yourself. No need to be embarrassed. You are friends anyway. And there’s no malice at all. Congratulations for being soo brave. He he he. The world needs guys like you.

Mandy asks…

Pregnant and dealing w/ future MIL who invited ex gf that fianc’e cheated on me with to funeral?

I had a funeral to attend for fianc’e mom’s side. I helped out the best I could by getting the deceased outfit together and spending many hours making a photo collage (tri-fold- like a big scrapbook page.) This was to be my fianc’e mom’s job- but i took it of her plate.I kept out select photos that would involve any embarassing past moments/loves. And all photos dealing with potential infidelity of the deceased.

Well- at the funeral turns out his mom invited past gf that he cheated on my with. Yes she knows- she was on the trip- and this was to a special place for the both of us- so I thought. He lied all about it and who she was- but I have photos the mom took of them in the hot tub- her in the bed- their hands all over each other. Very hurtful.

This is not the first time the woman has shown up at family functions. Is a heads up too much to ask?

Partner thinks I should suck it up and put on a happy face and deal with it/ get over it. I asked him how everyone would feel if I had invited the said person in the photos or used any of those? Should they suck it up and get over it. I just wanted some understanding- yet I could not even find him when she was there all that time- finally did- with his mom.

Future MIL has done many hurtful things to me in the past. (Borderline illegal things.) And I thought as we went through all those photo albums that things would be different. Yet still I remained guarded- as she seems to always back-stab me somehow.

Oh- and BTW I am pregnant and really not feeling well at all. :p

I understand the future MIL can have whom she pleases to make her feel better. Just to let me know would have been nice. Or to even say she meant to or ??? Yes, and pregnancy hormones do make me feel nutso sometimes .. :0

So what is the best way to deal with this type of thing? TU.
I am actually staring to believe she did it on purpose. Obviously infidelity was discussed beforehand- as we looked through all those albums. Obviously so was being respectful and not using ones that showed ex’s etc. I guess I was really hoping that I WOULD not be the one to have to tell her what bad manners it was. As if my family did that to my pregnant fiance’ I would sure let them know that it was NOT appreciated.

So what is the best way to deal with it? Send the mother/family a note to tell them I will no longer attend these things?

Oh- in the past- she has allowed my fiance’s teen to steal and destroy my propery- I found out a few days later and as he was screaming at me that these things now belonged to her- she chimed in that she knew for two days and kept quiet. Then even after that- I tried to have a nice family dinner. (Fiance’, his two teens, her and my dd.) First thing she says is how “I can’t believe I am here- when I have company down at my place and I should be .
Teens ask who- and it is the ex gf- and they now want to go and see her. This also very much hurt my dd. (Oh, and fiance’ was not even at the dinner- as he ran to see a friend.)

spafanatic answers:

Your fiance should have made it clear to his mother that the woman he cheated on you with was not to be asked to come. If she came of her own free will, she has a lot of balls in my opinion, and she’s a word I won’t say on here. Future MIL is an effing beotch and should be kicked in the shin every time you see her, along with your fiance! First, you’re pregnant. Stress is not good for you and your baby. That’s one reason to get that woman out of your face. If MIL needs her to make her feel better, she should have enough respect for you to let her console her out of your presence. Second, for finace to say to “suck it up”….I would have punched him in the face. If he won’t tell his mother to stop asking his ex skank to functions, then I wouldn’t marry this piece of crap anyhow. Sounds like a Momma’s boy who has no clue outside of what she tells him. I’m not saying he’s cheating right now, but any man with a conscience would make sure that woman was no where around ya’ll. MIL sounds like a real piece of work, too. I bet she still has pictures up of your fiance and his ex, too. RUN away from this messed up family as quickly as you can. You’d hate to be married to the guy and having his ex sitting across from you at the dang table at Thanksgiving! Sorry you have to go through this.

Robert asks…

i can’t put up with HERR in his life anymore!!?

here’s the deal — my best guy friend and i talk about everything. we don’t hang out that much anymore just because of different work/sports/school/etc schedules anymore,, but we’re still really close.
but my other friend, a girl, recently started hanging out with him alot. i guess it started out with like two times i couldn’t make it or whatever, and i was really excited because i’m also friends with her!

but now she makes fun of me in front of him all the time, and he’s always really busy doing things with her and his other friends.. ((who i’ve never really gotten too close to, but that never changed how close we were)).. and lately she’s been really flirty,, like OVER the top. ((asking how her boobs look in a shirt, inviting him to her hot tub..))

and she’s got a boyfriend! who she just got back together with!!

and through all this i can’t even get a word in with either of them. and i don’t feel like calling him anymore because she’s always with him!

but today at school she was sick.. and he and i were back to normal,,, and it was so much nicer. i missed him like hell, and i realized that there’s no way i want to lose him as a friend.

so how do i deal with her!!!??

spafanatic answers:

U guys share everytthing rite/ then tell him how u feel and if things dont change then u have to take action. Start hanging out more with him than her and totaly tell her strait out that shes like almost on the verge of cheating on her boyfriend and u dont think thats rite

Joseph asks…

how can i fix this situation!? please help me =( ?

uhm,, yeah,, i KNOW i’m jealous

spafanatic answers:

I would let him know that I miss our friendship before her and tell him that we should hang out and talk when she is not around. I would also tell her that I don’t appreciate being made fun of period. If she likes him then maybe she will admit it to you but she should be spending time with her bf versus him, If you have feelings for him, then let her know if she is a real friend then she will back off. Good luck… Seems to be a lot of drama. It almost makes you regret “inviting” her to the friendship between you two. Just realize that he was your friend first and you 2 have a special bond and it is probably worth fighting for.

Your Questions About Hot Tub Covers

Maria asks…

Where can you buy a cover liner for your viking hot tub?

The cover has a zipper all the way around it, and i’m looking for the vinyl section on the inside of the cover. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

spafanatic answers:

Use the link below to locate a Viking retailer near you ….call them and ask if they sell covers for the cover; they will need your model #

Laura asks…

how do i close my hot tub for the winter?

Hi guys…I live in new jersey.. and I need to close my hot tube now. should i empty it out? I jus moved into the house and dont have a manual..any suggestions as to what i need to do in order for me to close the hot tub and not waste anymore electricty? I have a cover for it..is it useful?

spafanatic answers:

If you can handle the electric bills, keep it open and use it! Nothing finer than sitting in the hot tub with snow on the ground sipping hot cocoa with friends and lovers! If not, you can keep it filled but you will want to keep it circulating and keep the minimum amount of chems in it. If you want to go total dormant, then you want to check to see if your tub is gonna ‘float’ if you empty it. If you can drain it without it popping out of the ground your in like flint! Just drain it and clean the walls then best to put a cover over it. Good luck!

Paul asks…

hot tub lid/cover?

Can anyone tell me the name of a HotTub lid/cover that wont get watter logged or heavy. I need to buy one that lasts longer than 2 years.

spafanatic answers:

Unfortunately, it seam to be inevitable, they all take on water eventually. The best suggestion I can give you is, if you live in a colder climate, use a winter cover on the hot tub and store the foam filled cover in a dry place. This will prolong the life quite a bit.

Nancy asks…

Does a hot tub heat faster covered or uncovered ?

spafanatic answers:

Covering it will definitely keep the heat from escaping. Covering it will heat it faster.

Ken asks…

How do I rid my hot tub of frogs?

I have little green frogs hanging out in my hot tub. Is there anyway to keep them away? They like to hide under the cover. It does not fit tight.

spafanatic answers:

Get a new cover. This is basic sense.

Your Questions About Jacuzzi Parts

Maria asks…

I have a POOL and I want to add a free JACUZZI…?

So… If someone is offering me a free jacuzzi with a pump, heater and in/out blower assembly, will I be able to hook up my jacuzzi with what is already set up for my pool? My pool has got it’s own water cycle pump system, is there enough in that where I can add a jacuzzi with the assembled parts I will be receiving? Help would be much appreciated!

spafanatic answers:

I really think you should add it but thats only depending on
how big your pool and what type of pool system you have.

Jenny asks…

moved into a place with a jacuzzi hot tub circa 1985? All parts working except for heater. Help?

Looking for an owner’s manual or options for repairing heater

spafanatic answers:

Need the make and model number, then you can do a web search.

Some are even downloadable for free.

Sounds like there is either a pump problem.

George asks…

Are there any swimming pools in / around Edinburgh with a jacuzzi?

Im looking for a swimming pool that has a jacuzzi, perhaps as part of a health suite or pool side.

spafanatic answers:

I couldn’t find any

John asks…

What part of the jacuzzi would I hook a solar panel up to in order to solar heat the water in the jacuzzi?

spafanatic answers:

It sounds ‘hot! We neeed screws…screw bee do and dooo..
(((awww!)))…. Now the heat will scream out of the sun, to boil it up!

As long as the panel won’t burn off my cutie cookie bun when I dip on it..Or ‘can’t help to cry out Meoww!!

Good luck brother..

Sandra asks…

Is a jacuzzi that hasn’t been used in 4 years going to work ok?

We saw an ad for a free jacuzzi in our local classifieds, they just need it out by Sat. They say it still works, but hasn’t been used in 4 years. It also needs 2 sides of paneling replaced. It will take a tremendous amount of work on our part to rent a stakebed, recruit 8 guys, and get the thing in our backyard. We’ve always wanted a jacuzzi, but I’m in school f/t right now so our finances SUCK.

I know 2 people who have acquired jacuzzis this way, and they work fine, so it’s not necessarily going to end badly – but it has the potential to.

What do you guys thing?

Worth it?

spafanatic answers:

You get what you pay for. Why are they giving it away if it works? Have them fire it up right there. If it works OK, you just have to drain it and deal with the fact that it will be a little wet. If it goes off like a lawn sprinkler in a heat wave, then you know it’s a bad deal.

Gaskets dry out. PVC pipe gets a chalky dust on it, inside and out. The least of your problems would be that the motor would ingest some of this junk before it started to leak, then you would be out the dough for the motor, and the other expenses. Did the other two people get ones that had not been used in four years?

Smells kind of fishy to me, since it has not been used. If’s so good, why did they not use it?! If it was me, and I was cash tight, I would not touch it with a ten foot pole. (Even if the pole had an extension!) Good luck if you get it!
