You can get them from a place that sells hot tubs.
I am afraid my electric plug in to my hot tub wlll short out when it rains what could I put over this plug in?
This plug in was installed by an electrician, and has a cover but
when you plug the hot tub in the cover comes up a bit. It just seems
like water willl get in an short out the hot tub.
If this was recently installed, the electrician should have used a cover that is weatherproof “while in use”. This means that you should be able to close the cover with a normal plug inserted. If this is the case, then your electrician did this to code.
The problem, I suspect, is that the plug for the hot tub is larger than normal. It is probably keeping the cover from closing completely. Unfortunately, the only replacements I can think of that might satisfy this, are the type that are found in RV parks & Campgrounds (usually made by Midwest / GE). They are usually made to close over larger plugs. I say “unfortunately” because they are usually ugly on the side of a house. But, if your electrician knew what this receptacle was to be used for, this option should have been explored (even if it is ugly).
As to your existing receptacle / cover…
How much water will get in will be determined by a couple of things. How much of the cover is actually open (exposing the receptacle)? How exposed to the weather is the receptacle?
Since I am unable to see this for myself, I cannot answer these questions.
Who do I call about the hot tub?
My hot tub was covered all winter and the cover is screwed on. What sort of appliance man should I call about taking the cover off and turning the hot tub on?
They are pretty simple to start up. And likely the cover is clipped on, not screwed down directly. Check the straps and the hardware at the tub itself and see if there is some sort of simple release mechanism.
Clean it out, fill it up (about half-way up the skimmer) and turn on the power. Depending on the unit it should self-prime and start to heat in a few minutes. But, you should also be able to look up the brand on-line and find starting procedures for each type of unit or type of controls.
Otherwise a Pool and Spa dealer will be able to service it for you. You really want to get it filled prior to them arriving as they charge by the hour – and it may take as much as a couple of hours to fill a large unit. When he does come – have him walk you through the entire process – and *take notes*. This way you will be able to avoid the expense in the future.
How do you remove spray sunscreen from a lhot tub cover?
Me and my friend accidentally sprayed a hot tub cover with continuous spray sport sunscreen lotion. The spray left white marks all over the cover. We tried soap and water, however it did not made a dramatic change. It may be possible to continue the soap-water scrubbing process and get it clean eventually, but a faster solution would be greatly appreciated. We believe the cover to be made of leather or a leatherette material. Any ideas?
You can try vinegar and water. And then scrub with that. After go back and wipe down with water, to remove any excess vinegar. You need the vinegar to cut the oil from the spray. That’s what you are seeing on the cover is the left over oils from the sunscreen That is the fastest way I know. I hope that helps you!
